How To Lighthouse (In Three Volumes) was created specifically for the Creativity Caravan's 2016 Tiny Book Show and Tour. In keeping with the restrictions of the exhibit, in which each participant was limited to three books no more than three inches tall/wide, I decided to make a cuboid box measuring 3" on each side and fit the books within it. The box was handmade from hand-tinted paper and board and lined with gold decorative paper. Circular tissue-covered windows on the side enabled the box itself to act as its own lighthouse, using the enclosed battery-operated tealight. I asked two friends, jeslach and frequency, to contribute their own experiences acting as Lighthouse Keepers for the House of the Latitude. I then typed my story, and theirs, on vintage typing paper overprinted with scenes familiar to any lighthouse-keeper: the water, the rocks, and the light itself. The books themselves were hand-bound and covered with vintage blue marbled book cloth and hand-painted boards.

Practice Being Human is a small book about the experience of realizing that you are sleepwalking through life and deciding to do something about it. It's an exploration of the decision I made to go off the Internet for one month and the things I thought about in the quiet. Each zine contains a unique list of thoughts, a number of individual hand-drawn and hand-lettered elements, and an adorable little stuck-on photograph of something I noticed while I was noticing things. Full-color interior. All covers are different. There are currently only 50 of these in existence. 5" x 7", 32 pages.

Practice Being Human is now available as a free PDF. Click here to download (3MB).

Finders-Keepers is a copy of the sketchbook I made for Art House Co-Op's 2010 Sketchbook Project. The theme was "I Am A Scavenger" and I chose to interpret that with some visual musings about what it means to find treasures in unlikely places. The original incorporated rub-on type, parking stubs, hand-cut stencils, typewritten passages, and drawings done in both pencil and ink. This is merely a facsimile, but is full-color, roughly 4" x 7", and numbers 28 pages.
